About Your Host

Your host Joyce DeToni-Hill

Buen Camino! Bom Caminho! Bon Chemin! Good Way!

I’m Joyce DeToni-Hill. I am United Methodist clergy of 38 years, living in St. George Utah. I’ll be your host for this journey. I experienced the transforming power of the camino in 2016, walking 500 miles across Spain on the Camino Francés during a transitional time in my life. Since then, I’ve walked over 1500 miles on Spain’s French and Portuguese (Coastal, Central, and Spiritual Variant) routes.

Since 2011 I’ve enjoyed participating in the pilgrimage community as a member of American Pilgrims on the Camino organization serving as a co- leader for the Colorado Front Range chapter, writing articles for the La Concha newsletter, offering workshops and presentations locally and for national conferences, and my favorite – commissioning first time pilgrims in shell ceremonies.

I’ve presented and preached on pilgrimage in storytelling groups, conference clergy colleague retreats, local churches and the Symposium for Pilgrimage Studies at the College of William and Mary.

And I’ve been privileged to lead small groups on pilgrimage to Israel and Spain’s Camino de Santiago. What a journey!

So it seems only natural to retire a little early from serving in the local church to follow my passion to introduce and accompany others in the joy of walking pilgrimage as spiritual adventure.

About Our Journey

As a seasoned pilgrim I can help navigate the daily rhythms of the Way with its promptings to grow in body, mind and spirit.

These pilgrimages are designed for each person to walk their best way spiritually and physically so the whole person is cared for. You can enjoy supportive companionship of others and/or claim space for yourself to walk in solitude as you need. Each day we wil review the day's walk and check how everyone is doing.

Orientation: When we gather, we will have a bit of orientation, reviewing our best practices for our shared journey. The Pilgrim Paths website offers information for preparation including packing tips. â€‹Pilgrim Paths pilgrimpaths.com.
